Frequently asked questions

Everything below is answered in plain language. If your question is not covered here, the contact page lists the address to write to and we answer every message that is not automated spam.

Using the tools

Is Social Keyword Generator really free?

Yes. Every generator on the site is free to use, with no account, no trial period and no cap on the number of lists you can create. The site is funded by the advertising shown around the tools.

Do I have to create an account?

No. There is no sign-up form anywhere in the workflow. You open a tool, type your topic and read the results. We never ask for an email address in order to show you output.

Is there a limit on how many keywords I can generate?

There is no limit we enforce. You can generate lists for as many topics as you like, as many times as you like, in a single session.

Which languages are supported?

The interface is available in 33 languages and you can type your topic in any language you like, including languages that do not have a translated interface. Results come back in the language of your input.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Every tool works in a mobile browser and each result list has a one-click copy button so it can be pasted straight into the app you post from.

Why does the same topic give a different list each time?

The generators use language models, which are probabilistic rather than deterministic. Running the same topic twice can produce a different order or a few different suggestions, which is useful when you want fresh angles on a topic you have already covered.

How the results are produced

Where do the keywords and hashtags come from?

They are generated by a large language model that is given your topic together with instructions describing how that specific platform handles discovery. We do not scrape hashtag sets from other accounts and we do not resell a third-party keyword database.

Do you guarantee that using these keywords will increase my reach?

No, and you should be sceptical of any tool that does. A list removes guesswork and gives you a considered set of terms to test. Whether a given term performs depends on your content, your account history and the platform's own ranking systems.

Should I use every suggestion in the list?

No. Treat the output as raw material. Delete anything that does not accurately describe your content, drop terms that are too broad for your account to compete on, and keep a set you could justify line by line.

How many hashtags should I actually use?

It depends on the platform. Instagram tolerates a larger mixed set, typically somewhere between eight and twenty well-chosen tags. TikTok works better with a small number of highly relevant tags. LinkedIn, X and Pinterest need only a handful. Our platform guides explain the reasoning for each.

Can a generated keyword list be wrong?

It can be irrelevant. Models occasionally return a term that does not fit your niche, or a trending phrase that has already passed its peak. That is exactly why the final selection is your job and not the model's.

Is the output copied from other people's content?

No. The list is produced by reasoning about your topic and the platform, not by copying another creator's captions or tags.

Privacy and data

What happens to the topic I type in?

It is sent to our server and then to the language model that produces the list. The result is returned to your browser. We do not build a personal search history and we do not require an identity to use the tools.

Do you use cookies?

We use the minimum needed for the site to function, plus cookies set by our advertising partner. Our advertising is served through Google AdSense, which uses cookies to select and measure ads.

Do you sell data to third parties?

No. We do not sell user data. The advertising on the site is handled by Google; their use of ad-related cookies is described in their own policies, and our privacy policy explains what we control.

Are there ads on the page?

Yes. Advertising is how the tools stay free. We keep placement around the content rather than inside the tool interface, and we do not use pop-ups or redirects.

Using the results commercially and in products

Can I use the generated keywords commercially?

Yes. The output is a suggestion list, not licensed content. You can use it in your own posts, client work, videos and marketing campaigns without attribution or payment.

Can I generate keywords for a client's account?

Yes. Freelancers and agencies use the tools for client work. Nothing in the terms restricts commercial or client-facing use of the results.

Can I put the results in a course, template pack or paid product?

You can use the lists you generate in your own products. What you may not do is resell or republish the tool itself, or present this site's output as a proprietary keyword database you own.

Do you offer an API?

Not currently. The tools are designed for interactive use in a browser. If you have a specific integration need, write to us and we will consider it.
